The Electro-Sparklevier was inspired largely by the Trautonium. Like the Trautonium, the Sparklevier has a resonant, rich tone with many harmonics.
The instrument is built entirely with vacuum tubes and passive components. Sound is generated by the ionization of gases within the neon bulbs and thyratron tubes and mixed in various computer triodes. The manual consists of a string suspended over a resistive surface. When touched together, the string feeds back through the resistive strip altering phase, frequency and tone. Volume is articulated by manipulating a beam of orange light provided by the gooseneck. Watch and listen to the Sparklevier above & enjoy.
